As Global Director Communications & Corporate affairs, you will have the opportunity to design an organization-wide strategy to heighten IDH’s brand recognition and profile among (e.g.) international C-suite circles of companies, governments, investors, funders and media. IDH’s new brand identity, to be launched over Q3 and Q4 of 2022 is leading. The positioning of IDH as a collaborative change agent is critical to the success of the organization and the impact IDH strives to achieve. As an organization that transforms markets, this role will need to build and create a communication strategy that supports the creation of impact, outing people, planet and progress at the heart of trade.
Next to this you will manage a team building a strong brand identity through the entire organization. You will need to determine the channels, the mix and method of content and the cadence at which we can tell the broad IDH story and her impact themes, Better Jobs, Better Incomes and a Better Environment with Gender Equality as a cross cutting theme. You will also need to lead the development of a corporate communication team with proficiency-based profiles, while developing their positioning in and outside the organization.
As Global Director Communications & Corporate Affairs you will directly report to the CEO. You will work closely with our management team and are part of our global leadership team to define a communication strategy that is joined up with our roadmap to achieve IDH’s organizational goals.

We are seeking an ambitious, innovative, and inclusive leader with senior communications experience in a (large) organisation and who is comfortable operating in a fast paced and complex environment. Bringing energy and insight, you will ensure that opportunities are identified to promote IDH’s work and to develop and uphold our brand and reputation as leading change agent.
You have a passion for, but not necessarily a background in, sustainable trade and development. You do have an understanding of relevant thematic topics, such as value chain sustainability, agri-commodities, natural resource management, gender and international policymaking. Next to that you also have a good understanding of public and parliamentary debates and the sensitivities around international trade and sustainable production.
As we are seeking a high-calibre individual with extensive experience of media engagement, you will apply knowledge and networks, speaking on behalf of the Directors and the organization. You have experience of producing targeted and relevant promotional material from concept to execution and dissemination. Highly developed skills in public relations, media management and outreach are essential. As Director Communication and Engagement, you are a strong communicator and stakeholder manager on all levels of the organisation, with the ability to engage and influence on a senior leadership level.

This is a full-time position. We offer a gross monthly salary between 6.000,- and 7.500 (based on 40 hours per week) depending on your seniority and skills, and solid fringe benefits, including a good pension scheme.
This position is preferably based in the Netherlands. Candidates should be EU nationals or have a valid working permit for the Netherlands/Europe.
