GRI seeks a Research Assistant
Consulting engagement: Between 20-40 hrs p/w

Location: Amsterdam, the Netherlands
GRI is looking to recruit a research assistant interested in sustainability and corporate responsibility issues for the GRI Program Implementation Team. The main tasks will be to provide research support related to GRI’s donor-funded work. The objectives of the tasks are to uncover evidence that sustainability reporting drives the adoption of sustainable business practices and to communicate this evidence to GRI’s stakeholders. The position is available 4 months on a part-time or full-time basis.
· Undertake research into the practice of sustainability reporting by corporations
o Compare the practice of reporting by a sample of corporations in 2014 with the same sample of companies in 2017;
o Identify self-reported practices/innovations/interventions that are examples of how companies have adopted sustainable business practices;
o Identify trends in key topics such as CO2 emissions, water usage, average salaries paid, investment in training of staff, etc.
o Utilize text analysis software such as ATLAS.ti, NVivo, MAXQDA.
· Create an inventory of sustainability reports of publicly listed companies (regional and global)
· Contribute to the development of case studies based on previously undertaken interviews with companies in emerging markets that have produced their own sustainability reports
· Advanced level fluency in written and spoken English.
· Research experience (through either course/field work)
· Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially PowerPoint
· Ability to work in an international and multi-cultural setting
· Good team player with a “can do” attitude.
· Results-focused ability to handle multiple tasks and work on precise timelines.
